Overview:

This twin-engined vessel is reportedly constructed in 1991 by David Abels Ltd., originally built for the Environment Agency. Currently operated under MCA Cat. 2 (60 msh) certification - full survey due 2018 (copy of current survey available).This vessel has the potential to serve many commercial applications including dive support, scientific/environmental survey, guard duties, etc., and is being sold complete with her comprehensive equipment and inventory.

Accommodation Details:

Access to the internal spaces is by a door in the aft bulkhead (S) - leading directly to the main wheelhouse set on two levels leading up to the helm position. There is further access to the lower deck accommodation offset to starboard. Three fixed windows are fitted each side, providing natural light to this area. Forward are steps leading to the bridge. The raised helm is centrally positioned with the listed navigation items assembled in close proximity and a charting area and bookcase adjacent. Both helm and crew seats are KAB suspension units from which good visibility is afforded through three forward sloping screens - each with wipers and there are three side windows (P & S). The lower saloon is set out with work benches for computer equipment / working surfaces with lockers under. A roomy area ideally suited as a working environment. A companionway leads down and forward to the crew facilties with two forward cabins (P&S) each with 'tiered' bunks (2 berths), and lockering. The Port cabin has a ladder and deck-head hatch for emergency exit. A Galley is located to Port, complete with electric hob, microwave and a sink unit. A settee arrangement with mess table is also provided to port. Heads / Shower (S) which offers a sea water-flushed toilet, shower and hand basin. Access to the engine room is aft adjacent to the companionway and extends to the after tiller flat area and tank space.

Accessed at the lower deck level, aft of the crew accommodation spaces, the Engine Room accommodates: The twin FORD MERMAID 180hp 6-cylinder engines each fitted with reduction gearboxes (2:1) connected to conventional shafts, stern gear. Both engines run alternators charging 8 No. batteries (24v system) and hydraulic pumps to ancillary services (winches and other hydraulic equipment). The engines serve a calorifier unit for hot water to Galley, etc. The steel fuel tanks (2 x 2000 ltrs) are located outboard within the engine room. The hydraulic fluid tank is located forward. Fresh water capacity is approx. 3 tons in steel tanks located P & S. Generators: 20Kva BETA (Ford based) 3-cylinder gen-set is located amidships together with a further BETA 2.5Kva - both providing 12v/24vDC/240v AC power to the vessel. The engine space has steel 'check-a-plate' floors, sections lifting to provide service access around the engine room installations. The electric circuitary and control valves are easily accessed. A work bench is also fitted. The after peak space is given to the steering geometry, tankage and some storage with a deck access hatch exiting forward of the winch installation. The vessel is fitted with Black and Grey tanks.

Electrical

Sterling shore-power system is installed providing a 240v ring main throughout the vessel with a number of power outlets. The engines (see Mechanical) are each fitted with alternators charging significant battery banks (reportedly 8) serving both 12v and 24v circuits.
Auxiliary charging and power requirements are provided from two diesel generators - Beta 2.5Kva and Beta 20Kva.

Deck & General

The vessel has steel bulwarks to the side and forward working areas. Painted steel railings atop the bulwarks providing added security each side and forward. A hydraulic operated 'A' frame gantry is mounted over the transom, working with a central twin-drum deck winch (reported as 1 tonne capacity) with a maximum lift of 2 mtr. A V-shaped section of the transom assists the retrieval of nets and other deployed equipment. Adjacent (P) is positioned a HIAB crane with approx. 2.5 tonnes at 1.1m and 600 Kgs lifting capacity at 4.8m. A substantial deck locker is located on the centre line under the gantry. 'Fit-for-Purpose' twin bollards (P & S) for mooring/towing use. A steel framework is fitted above the deck, providing stollage for an 3.4m RIB - launched and recovered by the HIAB crane. There are two access points by ladder to the upper level of the superstructure, providing a high vantage point for observation, etc.
The side decks offer good access forward where a further deck locker is located together with side and forward bollards. The winch on the fore-deck is for the Admiralty pattern anchors located P & S in hawse-pipe stowage. A large deck locker is fitted centrally under the wheelhouse forward windows.

Broker's Comments

'This design was established for the work of the Environment Agency and operated for more than 10 years around UK coasts. This maintained example has been much improved since aquisition and continues an important role as a dive support vessel and other support duties. The vessel already has bookings for 2017 which can be negotiated as a package with the owners if desired. Available for immediate sale'.

'Purchased in 2012 for use as a dive support vessel. major refit 2014 including new shafts and bearings, all tanks cleaned and painted, shot blasted hull and epoxy painted, routine slipping for anodes and antifouling, etc., Hiab crane overhauled, all hydraulic system overhauled, new heaters throughout, new navionics - radar, plotter and side scan sonar. Date of last survey - Sept. 2016'
