Overview:

The iconic NELSON 44 designed by TT Boat Designs is synonymous with pilots the world over and continues to pacify the sea in all its moods. These craft are required to operate when most wouldn't even contemplate going to sea - their sea keeping prowess is indisputable. 'Rival' was commissioned by the Port of Jersey and constructed to their specification in 1979 completed by Guernsey Boat Builders. A major refit was undertaken in 2001 and new Volvo D9 engines were installed 2010 (circa 5500hrs). Maintained in Code under MECAL (last survey Nov. 2025) to MCA Cat. 2 (60 miles FSH) with pilot boat endorsement operating from St. Helier Jersey. British Registration (Part 1)

Steps to: WHEELHOUSE with helm console to port housing engine instrumentation, controls and navigational instruments all close at hand from the helmsman's suspension seat. Additional passenger seating is by way of a bench (S) extending to the rear wheelhouse bulkhead with a small 'dickie' seat (P) and a large charting area with appropriate lockers on both sides. Central access to the after DECK AREA designed for ease of passage to the outer areas. Hadrian rails and stainless steel inboard rails extend down each side of the cabin superstructure to an 'island' position forward of the raised cabin. The deck is flush to gunwale with outer rubber foot rail running the length of the deck. A man overboard recovery crane is fitted at the transom adjacent to a boarding ladder.
